The Egypt eVisa
is an official electronic travel authorization that allows eligible foreign
nationals to enter Egypt for tourism or business purposes. Introduced to
streamline the visa application process, it eliminates the need for in-person
visits to embassies or consulates.
Eligibility
Citizens from over 70 countries, including the United
States, United Kingdom, India, China, and all European Union member states, are
eligible to apply for the Egypt eVisa. Applicants must possess a passport valid
for at least six months from their intended date of entry into Egypt.
Types and Validity
The eVisa is available in two
formats:
Single-entry visa: Valid
for 90 days from the date of issue, permitting a stay of up to 30 days.
Multiple-entry visa: Valid
for 180 days from the date of issue, allowing multiple entries within this
period, with each stay not exceeding 30 days.
Application Process
To obtain an Egypt eVisa:
Visit the official eVisa portal.
Complete the online application form with personal and
travel details.
Upload necessary documents, including a recent
passport-sized photo and a scanned copy of the passport's biodata page.
Pay the visa fee using a credit or debit card.
Upon approval, the eVisa will be sent via email.
The cost of the Egypt eVisa varies
based on the type and processing speed:
Single-entry visa:
Approximately $25.
Multiple-entry visa:
Approximately $60.
Expedited processing options are available at higher fees,
with processing times ranging from 3 to 7 business days.
Entry Requirements
Upon arrival in Egypt, travelers must present:
A printed copy of the approved eVisa.
The passport used during the eVisa application.
It's advisable to carry a printed copy of the eVisa
throughout the stay in Egypt, as it may be requested by authorities.
Extensions and Limitations
The eVisa does not permit stays beyond 30 days. To extend
the stay, travelers must apply in person at the Immigration Center in Cairo.
The eVisa is strictly for tourism or business; engaging in employment or other
activities requires a different visa category.
